Convention Parking
The following are the guidelines for parking on the Texas State University campus for those attending the Area VII FFA Convention on Tuesday and Wednesday, May 19-20, 2009. It is necessary that you follow these guidelines set forth by Texas State University in regards to parking.
The parking for schools that will be traveling in trucks, vans, or cars will be in surface lot or the parking garage adjacent to LBJ student center. The daily cost will be up to $10.00 per vehicle.
For those schools that will be arriving by bus, the university will allow the buses to be parked in the lot off Comanche Street (near the water tower). The university will allow school buses to unload their passengers in front of the LBJ Student Center before parking the bus in the Comanche Street lot. The following is directions for unloading and parking school buses:
If you are arriving in San Marcos via IH-35, take Exit 206 - Aquarena Springs Drive / Loop 82. Turn onto Aquarena Springs Drive from the access road. You will pass two traffic lights and cross over a railroad track. Bobcat Stadium will be on your left. You will pass another traffic light and then over the San Marcos River. At the next traffic light, turn right onto Sessom Drive. Proceed up the S-shaped curves of Sessom Drive. Pass through the second traffic light (North LBJ Avenue) and turn left on Thomas Rivera Drive. Proceed into the unloading area in front of the LBJ Student Center. After unloading students, return to Sessom Drive. Turn left on to Sessom Drive. Continue on Sessom Drive (through the stop sign) and immediately after the curve (where Sessom Drive becomes Academy) turn left on Speck Street and look for the water tower.
Lone Star FFA Degree Check Information
- Please be sure to check your district list and the area committee list to see if you are scheduled to help with the LSF record book check. If so, please be prepared to help the entire time – we have had many years where we were down to just a handful of people after lunch time. This severely hampers our ability to do a thorough check of the books.
- If your books are not complete, do not bring them. We will only accept record books and applications that are complete including signatures and check sheets. Bottom line: have the books complete at the convention or we will not accept the application.
- All Lone Star Applications and Record Books must be picked up by advisors when the check is completed. Absolutely no applications will remain with the Lone Star Degree committee. This will be done in an attempt to have all applications 100% correct before being returned to Blanco HS on June 9th at 8:00 am.
- All Star Lone Star Degree candidates record books and applications should be dropped off by 8:30 am so they can be checked first. This will allow the Star Lone Star interview committee to begin interviewing on time.
